About Jennifer Denison
Jennifer is an award-winning journalist who has specialized in writing about horses, training and the Western lifestyle for 14 years. She graduated from Colorado State University with two bachelor’s degrees: one in technical journalism and the other in equine science. She joined the staff at Western Horseman in 2002, where she currently is a senior editor and the Cowboy Culture editor.
Jennifer can’t remember a time she didn’t want to be a cowgirl. Growing up, Annie Oakley, Calamity Jane and Charmayne James served as her role models. She has owned horses most of her life and used them in various capacities, from showing and barrel racing, to packing and trail riding. She resides in Woodland Park, Colorado, a mountain community outside Colorado Springs. She and her husband, Robert, have a small herd of cattle and enjoy helping gather and brand on friends’ ranches.
In addition to writing and riding, Jennifer collects antiques and enjoys visiting Western art galleries and museums. She also has a knack for cooking and decorating in Western style.
